Prologue

The rain poured heavily, the camp ground soaking, the water had nowhere to go so it sat waiting for the skies to stop opening up. The water, if you could call it that was undrinkable, unusable, and waisted really. It was thickened with some sort of chemical that burned when it touched skin, the native plants however, seemed to relish in it. Soaking it up as much as possible.

The rain hadn't stopped or came close to stopping for the past week now, ever since she had arrived, it had been raining. At this stage, it would take forever and a day to dry out the camping gear and supplies, if drying it out was even possible at all. Who could live in these conditions.

A twig snapped outside, right beside her head as Natisa was trying to sleep with wet air. Eyes snapped open, her sight trained to the right as a shadow of being stalked at her campsite. A hiss followed soon after followed by a static over what must have been a radio.

"Nah, the princess isn't here." A deep cultured, American accented voice came from near her head. "Smells like a man."

Slamming her eyes closed, just as a torch appeared in the window of her glamping tent, she steadied her breathing, turning her short quick intakes of breath into deep ones, to try and fool the man that she was asleep.

Natisa was wearing full black gear and with a ski mask covering most of her face.

"Are you sure?" Came a voice she knew all too well over the man's radio.

"Yes, he doesn't smell like her." Man one answered back quickly.

"Keep searching, the princess has to be around these parts somewhere." Came through the radio.

"Copy that." Heavy foot steps sounded heading away from her camp.

Months ago, Natisa had traded her government issued camping gear for this posh step up and was now grateful that she did.

Served the Earth government right. During the course of reporting back her findings to them, the didn't realize that they hadn't disconnected the radio properly on their end before there was a heated discussion about using herself and her siblings as science experiments to help the human race. They never even guessed that she'd over heard everything until she ghosted them which was soon afterwards, naturally.

Natisa could locate all of them, but they couldn't locate her. In fact, tonight was the closest they'd been to her, unknowingly, for a year or so. That didn't sit well with her because it might have been that she'd been betrayed.

Chapter One.... Book One

She was sixteen when the Feds came for her. She’d just returned home from a day at school, when she walked in to the family room only to discover her grim faced father surrounded by men and women in suits, equally grimed faced.

“Natisa, these are…” the butler didn’t know how to explain, a first.

“The Australian Federal Police,” Supplied a plump man in his late 40s with a freshly trimmed haircut surrounding a bald plate and an American accent. “And I’m Special Agent Greg O’Connell from the F.B.I. Ms. Sokolova, we’re here to take you in.” Special Agent O’Connell stated clearly, she envied him for that.

She turned grey at those words. “W-what for?” She had to clear her throat, for the words to come out clearer. Natisa stuttered speech exposed her nerves to those who knew her. These people did not.

The butler drew her attention, “Natisa. You have done nothing wrong. They,” she turned her head and glared daggers at them, before returning his attention back to Natisa. “They just need you to help them. Apparently, you’re the only one who can.”

Thinking that the Feds wanted Natisa to dog on her family, something that she clearly refused to do, she refused to go with the Feds until later…

That night, like so many others, she overheard the household fighting, most likely over her, again. Natisa was in her room studying for upcoming exams, the music blaring from her awesome five-thousand-dollar surround sound system, but even that couldn’t drown them out this time. Grabbing her Motorola phone, she cranked up the volume and tried to refocus on her studies.

‘We should have told her from the beginning, as we did with the adoption!” The head maid, the voice of reason in a men’s world, yelled at her father and the other men in the house for some important meeting.

Natisa refused to be involved in the household drama. If she didn’t know anything, she couldn’t be captured and held for ransom, and it was wildly known that she refused to be involved, despite her sixteenth birthday present from her parents.

“Happy birthday, Nat. Oh, and this year we’re pleased to announce you’re engagement to Ruse Petrov! Happy birthday, our princess.” Her mother exclaimed happily at her sixteenth family birthday party with the ‘family friends’. Not a night that Natisa chooses to remember by any means.

Throwing down her personal torture tool, aka the pen that she was using for note taking, Natisa sighs and ran her fingers through her long dark locks before grabbing fistfuls and giving the locks a firm tug before driving on to her bed, face first and jamming her head under her pillow. In the hopes of draining out her memories. No such luck. They had their claws in and refused to let go.

“Tell her what, exactly, woman! That she is an alien being some description because her bloods came back strange and inhuman. How will that work. Take her to Disneyland and tell her there in the hopes that she won’t cause a scene? Tell me how you think that would work out.” Ruse Petrov Sr, chimed in.

Through all the thumping of the music, those were the words she heard and not the lyrics of the song playing. Lifting her head up, the pillow slipped off to the side of her head, while she tried to comprehend the meanings of the words she just overheard. It can’t be the truth. First the surprised arranged marriage to a guy she barely knew, and now this. What the freak was happening.

Sliding off the bed, Natisa opened the door a crack, checked to see if the coast was clear then slipping into and down the hall. Carefully going down the stairs, trying to keep quiet so that they wouldn’t stop talking, pausing at the foot of the stairs and listened intently to the conservation that she, again, wasn’t privy too.

Platium - About A Nation

Think of the world before modern technology, before plumping, before electricity and modern cons, such as toilet paper. Where guns were a foreign concept, where we used to use a stream to wash our clothes and it was an all day event with many women doing it and helping each other out. Where weapons and hunting tools were hand made. When it took a day or more to travel to the neighbouring village because there weren't any horses, or bicycles or any other mobility of transportation other than your own two feet. Where foot messengers were paid in coins to deliver messages to the nearest villages for the doctor. That is the basis of what Platium is like, except are far more dangerous.

If you come up against a creature, any of them, you either have two choices. Run, or stand your ground. The more powerful the Sorcery, the more you'd likely win standing your ground. The way power and leadership in Platium is given is simple.
• Sorcery - low ranking power, no stone backing - both genders
• White - a little higher up in the scale of power - both genders
• Yellow - one standing above - both genders
• Rose - middle ground - both genders and are the peoples healers
• Green - just above middle ground - both genders
• Blue - higher above and can reasonably hold their own against any foe without too much aid - both genders
• Red/Crimson - dark and deadly sorcery. Reserved for Queens - both genders but generally reserved for women

Queens, don't just rule their people. They in tern sacrifice their own blood to the planet (Platium) for the planet to provide for the people that live there. The people know that they cannot survive for long without their Queen regularly restoring the planet with blood. But when a Queen is the queen not of just the planet but its moons, she has less darker Queen regents that rule in her stead. She cannot be in two places at once.

Platium's tree trunks are taller than Mount Everest before the brenchs start forming from the trucks at 20 feet above Mount Everest peaks. The brenchs are so thick that the people easily build their villages in the trees to keep their people out of harm's way while they're sleeping. Each tree this size is actually a village on Platium. The village leaders answer to the Queen as there is only ever one.
